Regular Season Round 10: Haukar - Valur 85-78

Bottom-ranked Haukar managed to get a second victory, breaking the six-game losing streak. This time they won against ninth-ranked Valur in Hafnarfjordur 85-78. After very bad start, Valur stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 3 points 41-38. But it was not enough and Haukar took back the control in second half. Haukar had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Spanish-Colombian point guard Hansel Atencia (178-97, college: Master's, agency: Players Group) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Irish-American forward Brian Fitzpatrick (202-89, college: Bucknell) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. At the losing side Portuguese point guard Miguel Cardoso (188-93) responded with 32 points and 5 assists and international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Haukar (2-7) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Hottur. Valur lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Thor AK. Haukar will play against Hottur (#11) in Egilsstadir in the next round. Valur will play at home against the league's leader Keflavik having rather not much hope for a victory.
