Regular Season Round 15: Calpe - Carolinas 75-50

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Carolinas' (1-10) road loss to eighth ranked Calpe (5-5) 50-75 on Sunday. Calpe dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Carolinas' 30. They outrebounded Carolinas 37-24 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for point guard Jaime Ivars (186-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Robert Palomo (190-3) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Calpe players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Santiago Gaya (-0) with 21 points and 4 steals and Francisco Barros scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Calpe moved-up to sixth place in Group E-B. Carolinas lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Calpe will face league's leader Alginet on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Carolinas will play against the league's second-placed Cartagena (#2) and hope to win that game.
