Regular Season Round 15: Mondragon - Baskonia B 79-66

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Baskonia B (3-5) was defeated on the road by first ranked Mondragon (7-1) 79-66 on Sunday. Mondragon forced 24 Baskonia B turnovers. It was a great evening for swingman Andoni Acha (195-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Mondragon players scored in double figures. Mondragon's coach Inaki Ogara used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Joseba Querejeta (189-3) with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Senegalese power forward El-Hadji Ngom (207-3) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mondragon. They maintain first place in Group A-A with 7-1 record. Loser Baskonia B keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Mondragon will face Zarautz (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Baskonia B will play against Valle de Egues and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
