Regular Season Round 15: Kutaisi - Vera 71-96
Date: February 7, 2021
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Kutaisi (9-2) against tenth ranked Vera (4-7) on Sunday night. Host Kutaisi was crushed by Vera in Kutaisi 96-71. The game was mostly controlled by Vera. Kutaisi was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vera forced 20 Kutaisi turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Aaron Parks (190-94, college: CSUN) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 4 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Josh Hawley (201-96, college: Tarleton St.) accounted for 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Vera's coach Levan Patsatsia felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Akaki Dvalishvili (207-91) came up with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Kutaisi in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vera moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Dinamo and Batumi. Kutaisi at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Vera's next round opponent will be league's leader Rustavi on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kutaisi will play against Olimpi and hope to win that game.
