Regular Season Round 23: Umea - Norrkoping 65-78

Basketligan top team - Norrkoping Dolphins (17-6) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat eighth ranked Umea (5-16) 78-65. The game was mostly controlled by Norrkoping Dolphins. Umea managed to win third quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Umea to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Norrkoping Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Umea's 24. American point guard Kamau Stokes (183-95, college: Kansas St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman Terry Larrier (203-95, college: UConn) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Stokes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Norrkoping Dolphins players scored in double figures. Norrkoping Dolphins' coach Mikko Riipinen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spanish guard Guim Exposito (197-94, agency: Promo Sport ID) answered with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and Spanish forward Maxim Esteban (201-98) added 15 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Umea. Norrkoping Dolphins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-6 record. Umea at the other side keeps the eighth position with 16 games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins are looking forward to face Boras Basket (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
