Regular Season Round 17: MPKK Sokolow - MKS Pruszkow 39-105

Everything went according to plan in Sokolow Podlaski where second ranked MKS Pruszkow (13-4) outscored 7th ranked MPKK Sokolow (8-9) 105-39 on Wednesday. MKS Pruszkow dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to MPKK Sokolow's 10. MKS Pruszkow forced 25 MPKK Sokolow turnovers and outrebounded them 53-13 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. MKS Pruszkow looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by MPKK Sokolow's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MKS Pruszkow made 7 blocks. Power forward Anna Kuncewicz-Dabek (188-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and forward Marzena Marciniak (183-91) chipped in 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Five MKS Pruszkow players scored in double figures. Guard Aleksandra Welenc (165-2) responded with 17 points and Mariola Dzikowska (167-2) scored 9 points and 4 steals. MPKK Sokolow's coach Rafal Haponik gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for MKS Pruszkow. They maintain second place with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Polonia W-wa. MPKK Sokolow lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. MKS Pruszkow will face AZS UG (#5) in Gdansk in the next round. MPKK Sokolow will play at home against SMS Lomianki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
