Regular Season Round 25: Pyrinto - Kauhajoki 83-89

An interesting game for Kauhajoki (13-4) which played road game in Tampere against their biggest opponent Pyrinto (13-4). Third ranked Kauhajoki managed to get a 6-point victory 89-83. The guests were already 20 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-12 Pyrinto's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 89-83 at the end of the game. Kauhajoki players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American forward Jeff Garrett (201-94, college: LSUS) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Osasumwen Osaghae (206-98, college: FIU) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Osku Heinonen (194-92) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American Brady Skeens (201-95, college: Washburn) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoki have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Pyrinto. Kauhajoki will play against KTP Basket (#9) in Kotka in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pyrinto will play at home against Nokia (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
