Regular Season Round 20: Brescia - Varese 98-83
Date: February 10, 2021
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Varese (5-12) lost on the road to eighth ranked Brescia (9-10) 98-83. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Varese's 22. Brescia players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Darral Willis (205-96, college: Wichita St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international power forward Christian Burns (203-85, college: Jefferson) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. American point guard Toney Douglas (188-86, college: FSU) responded with 20 points and Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Varese players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brescia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Trieste. Varese lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 12 games lost. Brescia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Varese will play at home against Sassari (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
