There was an upset in San Sebastian where higher ranked Solares (5-5) was defeated by ninth ranked Easo (4-6) 81-70 on Saturday. Easo dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Solares' 34. Easo forced 19 Solares turnovers. Strangely Solares outrebounded Easo 45-25 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gorka Etxezarreta (192-97) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Iker Arrieta (180-92) chipped in 14 points. Four Easo players scored in double figures. American-British center Kaj-Bjorn Sherman (213-92, college: UTSA) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and forward Sergio Garcia (195-95) added 15 points and 17 rebounds respectively for lost side. Easo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Solares keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Easo will face higher ranked Ardoi (#3) in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Solares will play at home against Baskonia B and hope to win that game.
