Regular Season Round 19: Cortegada - GDKO Bizkaia 75-72

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Cortegada (5-14) edged higher ranked GDKO Bizkaia (10-9) in Vilagarcia Arousa 75-72 on Saturday. Cortegada made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for guard Sara Gomez (172-86) who helped to win the game recording 27 points (made all of her nine free throws !!!). Swingman Patricia Vicente (176-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Center Rebeca Cotano (188-95) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Juana Molina-Prados (172-91) added 17 points in the effort for GDKO Bizkaia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cortegada moved-up to eleventh place in Group A. Loser GDKO Bizkaia keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Cortegada will face higher ranked Plasencia (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
