Regular Season Round 16: Xerez - Portuense 65-82

Everything could happen in Jerez de la Frontera at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Portuense and bottom-ranked Xerez had identical 0-9 record. But Xerez was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from El Puerto de Santa Maria 82-65 on Saturday night. Portuense dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Xerez's 38. Portuense forced 22 Xerez turnovers. Power forward Jonathan Enriquez (197-89) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Alejandro Valderrama (194-93) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Elian Malinarich (190-0) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Uchechi Ogbonna (196-92, college: Daemen) added 14 points and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Portuense maintains tenth position with 1-9 record which they share with defeated Xerez. It was Xerez's tenth loss in a row. Xerez at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with ten games lost. Portuense will have a break next round.
