Regular Season Round 19: Catz - ToPo 70-76

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Torpan Pojat (4-15) defeated on the road 8th ranked Catz Lappeenranta (5-15) 76-70. It looked good early as Catz Lappeenranta took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Torpan Pojat took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 6 points. It was a very good performance for center Nea-Paula Kuisma (183-99) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Ida Myllyoja (180-96) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Torpan Pojat's coach Niko Kuusi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Veera Pirttinen (180-97) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Roosa Kosonen (183-0) added 18 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Catz Lappeenranta. Torpan Pojat maintains ninth place with 4-15 record. Catz Lappeenranta at the other side keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Torpan Pojat will play against league's second-placed Tapiolan Honka at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Kouvottaret (#5) in Kouvola and hopes to get back on the winning track.
