Regular Season Round 16: La Zubia - Benahavis 79-74

Everything went according to plan when third ranked La Zubia (6-2) won against at home 8th ranked Benahavis (4-2) 79-74 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. La Zubia dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Benahavis' 32. Benahavis was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard David Garcia (180-93) fired 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian center Gonzalo Bressan (205-1) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Adrian Ramirez (192-2) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Canadian forward Evan Pellerin (199-82, college: Stonehill) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Benahavis' coach Rafael Sanchez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Zubia keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Benahavis still keeps top place with two games lost. La Zubia will face Novaschool (#5) in Malaga in the next round. Benahavis will play at home against the league's leader El Pinar (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
