Regular Season Round 16: Zarautz - Mondragon 69-74

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Zarautz (3-3) was defeated at home by first ranked Mondragon (8-1) 74-69 on Sunday. Point guard Aitor Carrera (180-89) fired 19 points for the winners. Power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Asier Azpeitia (192-98) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and forward Alejandro Romero (201-98) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Mondragon have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Zarautz dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Mondragon will face Valle de Egues (#8) in Olaz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zarautz will play on the road against the league's second-placed Santurtzi (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
