Regular Season Round 16: Real Murcia - Girona 93-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Girona (7-8) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Real Murcia (5-10) 93-87 on Sunday. Real Murcia outrebounded Girona 39-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Girona was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alejandro Hernandez (189-90) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 assists and Jamaican power forward Clint Robinson (203-94, college: UIC) who added 13 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Senegalese center Biram Faye (206-0) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Dutch forward Olaf Schaftenaar (208-93, college: Oregon St.) scored 17 points. Five Real Murcia and four Girona players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Real Murcia maintains eighth position with 5-10 record, which they share with Ourense. Girona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Real Murcia will face league's second-placed HLA Alicante on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
