No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (8-4) beat at home 12th ranked Hasharon (4-8) 86-78 on Tuesday. Strangely Hasharon outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 45-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi Ashdod especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Hasharon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for French point guard Arthur Rozenfeld (181-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 assists and 4 steals. Jamaican-American swingman Durand Scott (195-90, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American point guard JeQuan Lewis (186-94, college: VCU) replied with 30 points and 9 assists and his fellow American import forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: JSU) added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Hasharon. Five Maccabi Ashdod and four Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hasharon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to third place, which they share with H.Galilee and I.Ramat Gan. Loser Hasharon keeps the twelfth position with eight games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will face bottom-ranked Elitzur Yavne (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hasharon will play against H.Galilee and hope to win that game.
