There was a minor upset when 4th placed Barbera (4-4) lost to seventh ranked JAC Sants (1-6) in Barcelona 62-76 on Saturday. JAC Sants dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Barbera's 28. JAC Sants forced 20 Barbera turnovers. Naturalized Mexican forward Mauricio Cheda (198-90, college: UTEP) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Mauro Abad (185-1) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jordi Signes Beltri (201-98, college: Cuesta JC) answered with 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Joel Rodriguez (187-91) added 8 points in the effort for Barbera. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. JAC Sants maintains seventh place with 1-6 record. Loser Barbera keeps the fourth position with four games lost. JAC Sants will face higher ranked Roser (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barbera will play against the league's second-placed Vic and will have a slim chance for a victory.
