Regular Season Round 19: Menorca - Tarragona 77-73

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Tarragona (7-13) lost to second ranked Menorca (15-5) in Mahon 73-77 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Menorca outrebounded Tarragona 34-22 including 20 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for forward Adrian Mendez (195-93) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds. Dutch center Menno Dijkstra (213-97, college: UC Riverside) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Menorca players scored in double figures. Menorca's coach Oriol Pages used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Cape Verdean forward Kevin Coronel (197-91) answered with 19 points and 4 steals and center Ferran Torres (201-88) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tarragona. Menorca maintains second place in Silver with 15-5 record behind leader FC Barcelona 2. Newly promoted Tarragona keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Menorca will face league's leader FC Barcelona 2 at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tarragona will play against Navarra (#6) in Pamplona and hope to win that game.
