No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Taranto (12-0) beat at home 6th ranked Catanzaro (3-9) 68-55 on Sunday. They outrebounded Catanzaro 45-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for power forward Ferdinando Matrone (205-95, agency: SLN) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Alessandro Azzaro (202-93) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Taranto players scored in double figures. Taranto's coach Davide Olive used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Marco Cucco (189-94, agency: Players Group) replied with 12 points and 4 assists and forward Francesco Morciano (200-96, agency: SLN) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Catanzaro. Newly promoted Taranto maintains first position in B with 12-0 record. Catanzaro at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Taranto will face R.Calabria (#6) in Reggio Calabria in the next round where they are favorite. Catanzaro will play at home against the league's second-placed Nardo and hope to win that game.
