Regular Season Round 17: Solares - Baskonia B 112-114

There was an upset when higher ranked Solares (5-6) was edged at home by tenth ranked Baskonia B (4-6) 114-112 on Sunday. Solares was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. French Sidy Cissoko (195) orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Senegalese forward Pape-Ablaye Sow (203-3) contributed with 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American-British center Kaj-Bjorn Sherman (213-92, college: UTSA) answered with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and forward Saul Alonso (194-1) added 18 points and 13 assists in the effort for Solares. Four Baskonia B and five Solares players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Baskonia B moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Univ.Valladolid. Loser Solares keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Baskonia B will face higher ranked Ardoi (#4) in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Solares will play on the road against the league's leader Mondragon and will have a slim chance for a victory.
