An interesting game took place in Las Palmas where higher ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (14-9) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Gran Canaria (9-16) 70-65 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Argentinian power forward Agostina Burani (186-91) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Arica Carter (173-96, college: Louisville) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Gran Canaria maintains twelfth position with 9-16 record. ASEFA Estudiantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Gran Canaria will meet higher ranked IDK Eustotren (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ASEFA Estudiantes will play against Zaragoza and hope to secure a win.
