Regular Season Round 11: KR - Snaefell 78-74

KR has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Snaefell (2-7) 78-74. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Snaefell won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KR players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Finnish forward Annika Holopainen (185-93, college: ODU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. American point guard Taryn McCutcheon (165, college: Michigan St., agency: LBM Management) accounted for 19 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. KR's coach Francisco Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international forward Anna Larusdottir (174-99) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Haiden Palmer (173-91, college: Gonzaga, agency: Shark Sports Management) added 15 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for Snaefell in the defeat. KR maintains eighth place with 1-8 record. It was Snaefell's third loss in a row. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. KR will play against higher ranked Breidablik (#6) in Kopavogur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Snaefell will play at home against Skallagrimur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
