Regular Season Round 20: Chelmno - Trefl 2 Sopot 78-84

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Chelmno (9-10) lost at home to seventh ranked Trefl 2 Sopot (8-9) 84-78 on Tuesday. Trefl 2 Sopot forced 25 Chelmno turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Hubert Lalak (176-3) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 assists. Guard Piotr Bobka (183-3) contributed with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Forward Daniel Belski (191-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 22 rebounds and Krzysztof Kozlowski (198-92) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Chelmno. Five Chelmno players scored in double figures. Chelmno's coach Miroslaw Gajewski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Trefl 2 Sopot maintains seventh position in Group A with 8-9 record. Newly promoted Chelmno keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Trefl 2 Sopot will face higher ranked Ogniwo Szcz. (#6) in Szczecin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chelmno will play on the road against Astoria 2 in Bydgoszcz and hope to win that game.
