Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ashdod (9-4) against eighth ranked Ramat Hasharon (5-8) on Thursday night. Visiting Ashdod was defeated by Ramat Hasharon in a tough game in Hasharon 73-80. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Ashdod. Ramat Hasharon made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ashdod 48-31 including a 40-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ramat Hasharon players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American guard Jennie Simms (183-94, college: ODU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists and international point guard Danielle Karsh (175-1) supported her with 7 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Even a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds by American center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Ashdod. Her fellow American import point guard Alexis Peterson (173-95, college: Syracuse) added 25 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Ramat Hasharon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bnot Hertzeliya. Ashdod at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Holon. Ramat Hasharon will play against bottom-ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#10) on the road in the next round. Ashdod will play against the league's leader Ramla (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
