Regular Season Round 17: Reims - Mondeville 64-69

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Reims (9-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Mondeville (8-6) 69-64 on Friday. The best player for the winners was the former international center Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova (193-93, college: Dayton) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Swingman Louise Bussiere (180-2) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Mondeville players scored in double figures. Point guard Coline Franchelin (167-99) produced 19 points and 4 assists and DR Congolese power forward Ginette Mfutila (189-88, agency: LBM Management) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Mondeville moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Chartres. Loser Reims keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Mondeville will meet Reze (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Reims will play against Chartres (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
