Regular Season Round 18: Mondragon - Solares 85-79

Very predictable result when first ranked Mondragon (9-2) defeated at home 6th ranked Solares (5-7) 85-79 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Solares was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Andoni Acha (195-99) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-British center Kaj-Bjorn Sherman (213-92, college: UTSA) with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 18 rebounds and Diego Garcia (192-0) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mondragon maintains first position in Group A-A with 9-2 record. Solares lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. Mondragon will face Ardoi (#6) in Zizur Mayor in the next round where they are favorite. Solares will play at home against Valle de Egues and hope to win that game.
