Regular Season Round 13: Sangiorgese - Ragusa 79-69

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in San Giorgio where 5th ranked Ragusa (5-8) was defeated by sixth ranked Sangiorgese (5-8) 79-69 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Sangiorgese especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Ragusa was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Andrea Picarelli (196-96, agency: SLN) stepped up and scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Sebastiano Bianchi (197-92, agency: SLN) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side guard Andrea Sorrentino (190-90) responded with 19 points and forward Mattia Mastroianni (203-94) scored 15 points. Ragusa's coach Antonio Bocchino tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sangiorgese moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 9 other teams including defeated Ragusa. Sangiorgese will face Palermo (#8) on the road in the next round. Ragusa will play against Torrenova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
