Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Lucca (5-16) defeated on the road 13th ranked Battipaglia (2-18) 86-68 on Saturday. Lucca made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Lucca outrebounded Battipaglia 44-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Linnae Harper (175-95, college: Ohio St.) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Slovakian center Ivana Jakubcova (198-94, college: USC) supported her with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Lucca players scored in double figures. Even 29 points (on 10-of-10 shooting from the field) by American guard Amber Melgoza (178, college: Washington) did not help to save the game for Battipaglia. Swedish guard Paulina Hersler (190-94, college: Florida) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Lucca maintains eleventh position with 5-16 record. Battipaglia lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Lucca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
