Regular Season Round 16: PAOK - Promitheas 81-78

The most exciting game of round 16 in the A1 took place in Thessaloniki. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Promitheas (9-5) to sixth ranked PAOK (8-8) 81-78 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Promitheas. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-78. PAOK made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Elston Turner (195-90, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording 28 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international center Dimitrios Kaklamanakis (205-94) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jerian Grant (196-92, college: Notre Dame, agency: Wasserman) replied with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Michalis Lountzis (195-95, agency: Network Sports International) added 12 points in the effort for Promitheas. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. PAOK maintains sixth position with 8-8 record. Promitheas at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. PAOK are looking forward to face league's second-placed AEK in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Promitheas will play at home against Aris and is hoping to win this game.
