Regular Season Round 34: Nova Ves - Prievidza 78-74

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Prievidza (9-17) was defeated on the road by second ranked Nova Ves (17-13) 78-74 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Nova Ves dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Prievidza's 26. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Nova Ves made 7 blocks. International point guard Mario Ihring (192-98, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) for the winners. Serbian forward Marko Stevanovic (203-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Grant Sitton (206-93, college: Victoria) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Slovenian guard Miha Vasl (192-92) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nova Ves maintains second position with 17-13 record having just four point less than leader Levice. Prievidza at the other side keeps the sixth place with 17 games lost. Nova Ves will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Prievidza will play at home against Inter Bratislava (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
