There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Biella (6-15) won against at home 12th ranked Casale (8-12) 83-72 on Sunday. Casale was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American swingman Jeffrey Carroll (198-94, college: OK State) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Deontae Hawkins (203-93, college: Boston Coll.) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Biella players scored in double figures. Biella's coach Iacopo Squarcina used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Sam Thompson (200-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Senegalese center Gora Camara (214-1) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Casale. Biella maintains fourteenth position with 6-15 record. Casale lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Biella will face higher ranked Cd'Orlando in Capo d'Orlando in the next round.
