Regular Season Round 14: Hottur - Stjarnan 93-94

Tenth-ranked Hottur (4-9) gave a tough game to third ranked Stjarnan (10-3) in Egilsstadir. The visitors from Stjarnan managed to secure only one-point victory 94-93. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Stjarnan players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The former international point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-91, college: Newberry, agency: Duran International) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Swedish forward Alexander Lindqvist (205-91, agency: Duran International) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Croatian forward Matej Karlovic (200-89) replied with 27 points and Croatian swingman Dino Stipcic (196-89) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Hottur. Five Stjarnan and four Hottur players scored in double figures. Hottur's coach Vidar Hafsteinsson tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Stjarnan have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Hottur dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Stjarnan's next round opponent will be Thor AK (#10) in Akureyri and are hoping to win another game. Hottur will play on the road against IR in Reykjavik and hope to win that game.
