There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Palermo (3-11) defeated at home 5th ranked Sangiorgese (5-9) 85-80 on Sunday. Palermo made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Strangely Sangiorgese outrebounded Palermo 47-26 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sangiorgese was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Giuseppe Lombardo (197-83) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian point guard Matias Di Marco (179-84) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Palermo's coach Alberto Mazzetti allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Gabriele Berra (195-0, agency: SLN) produced 30 points and 7 rebounds and Omar Dieng (200-0) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests.
