Regular Season Round 23: Lima-Horta - Azulejos 68-33

There was no surprise in Barcelona where 12th ranked Azulejos (5-16) was outplayed by second ranked Lima-Horta (21-3) 68-33 on Saturday. Lima-Horta forced 27 Azulejos turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Vanesa Verbo (174-94) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Guard Carmen Villalobos (185-1, college: Hartford) helped adding 7 points and 7 rebounds. Center Marina Vilella (185-92) responded with 12 points and Eva Lacort (-89) scored 5 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Lima-Horta maintains second place in Group C with 21-3 record having just three points less than leader Ferrol. Azulejos lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Lima-Horta will face Sant Adria (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Azulejos will play against Joventut (#7) in Badalona and hope to win that game.
