Very expected game when 12th ranked Algeciras (7-14) was smashed on the road by fourth ranked Ponferrada (12-7) 92-62 on Saturday. Ponferrada forced 28 Algeciras turnovers. It was a good game for forward Pablo Hernandez (201-97, college: MBU, agency: Promo Sport ID) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 5 rebounds. British Josh Steel (194-97, college: Duquesne) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Ponferrada players scored in double figures. Nigerian center Bola Olaniyan (201-93, college: Alabama) answered with 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and power forward Yago Estevez (204-91) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Algeciras. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ponferrada maintains fourth place in Silver with 12-7 record. Newly promoted Algeciras dropped to the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Ponferrada will face Gijon (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Algeciras will play against Alcobendas (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
