There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Gijon (8-12) edged on the road higher ranked Zamorano (10-11) 92-90 on Sunday. Gijon shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. It was a good game for guard Alejandro Marin (190-88) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Dominican guard Quarry Greenaway (190-94, college: JWU, RI) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Guard Sergi Costa (188-96) answered with 19 points and 6 assists and American guard Bryce Canda (193-95, college: Portland St.) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Zamorano. Four Gijon and five Zamorano players scored in double figures. Gijon moved-up to ninth place in Silver. Loser Zamorano keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Gijon will face higher ranked Ponferrada (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
