Regular Season Round 23: Sant Josep - Segle XXI 67-77

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Segle XXI (13-11) defeated on the road 9th ranked Sant Josep (8-14) 77-67 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Gisela Sanchez (191-3) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Elena Buenavida (174-4) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. Four Segle XXI players scored in double figures. French forward Sophia Elenga (185-95, college: ASU) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Wilma Carlsten scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Segle XXI. They maintain sixth place in Group C with 13-11 record, which they share with Joventut. Newly promoted Sant Josep keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Segle XXI will face Mataro (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sant Josep will play against Almeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
