Regular Season Round 23: Casablanca - Almeda 61-48

Not a big story in a game in Zaragoza where 11th ranked Almeda (7-17) was defeated by eighth ranked Casablanca (11-12) 61-48 on Sunday. Casablanca forced 23 Almeda turnovers. It was a great evening for forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Ana Tainta (173-0, college: Portland St.) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Point guard Claudia Soriano (170-3) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Pacheco Mar (-2) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Casablanca maintains eighth place in Group C with 11-12 record. Newly promoted Almeda keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Casablanca will face Girona (#10) on the road in the next round. Almeda will play against Sant Josep and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
