Regular Season Round 24: Granada - UCAM Jairis 68-53

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Granada. Third ranked Granada faced one of their biggest challengers UCAM Jairis. Host Granada (14-8) defeated guests from Alcantarilla (15-9) 68-53. Granada dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to UCAM Jairis' 26. Granada forced 19 UCAM Jairis turnovers. The winners were led by Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (194-92, college: Shaw) supported her with 11 points. Even 16 points by American point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for UCAM Jairis. Latvian center Marta Miscenko (193-95, college: Wingate) added 8 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Granada have an impressive six-game winning streak. Despite that victory Granada went down to fourth position due to points difference. UCAM Jairis at the other side dropped to the third place with nine games lost. Granada's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Alcobendas at home and it may be the game of the week. UCAM Jairis will play against the league's leader Leganes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
