Very predictable result when fifth ranked Trefl (18-11) won against 10th ranked Twarde Pierniki (12-17) in Torun 93-88 on Thursday. Trefl looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Twarde Pierniki's players. The former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Lithuanian Martynas Paliukenas (191-93) contributed with 12 points and 8 assists for the winners. American guard Donovan Jackson (188-96, college: Iowa St.) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Keyshawn Woods (192-96, college: Ohio St.) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Twarde Pierniki. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trefl have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 18-11 record. Loser Twarde Pierniki keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. Trefl will face Enea Astoria (#11) in Bydgoszcz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Twarde Pierniki will play at home against WKS Slask and hope to win that game.
