There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Maccabi Raanana (5-10) crushed at home 10th ranked Hasharon (7-11) 90-66 on Saturday. Maccabi Raanana had a 34-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American-Jamaican Quintrell Thomas (203-90, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Naturalized Slovakian forward Tomer Levinson (207-0) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Maccabi Raanana players scored in double figures. Gil Amitay (198-89) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: JSU) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Hasharon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi Raanana maintains thirteenth position with 5-10 record. Loser Hasharon keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Maccabi Raanana will face league's second-placed Maccabi Ashdod at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
