There was no surprise in Thessaloniki where 8th ranked Aris (6-11) was defeated by sixth ranked PAOK (9-9) 77-71 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. PAOK made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Aris was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Elston Turner (195-90, college: Texas A&M) who scored 17 points. The former international center Dimitrios Kaklamanakis (205-94) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) who recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Mario Little (198-87, college: Kansas) added 11 points respectively. Four Aris players scored in double figures. Aris' coach Savvas Kamperidis let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. PAOK moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Peristeri GS. Loser Aris dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. PAOK will face Kolossos HH (#9) in Rodou in the next round. Aris will play at home against AEK and hope to win that game.
