Regular Season Round 24: Barakaldo - Plasencia 83-53

There was a minor upset in Vizcaya where 4th ranked Plasencia (16-8) was outplayed by sixth ranked Barakaldo (13-12) 83-53 on Saturday. Barakaldo outrebounded Plasencia 39-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Barakaldo especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was Nigerian forward Ijeoma Uchendu (185-92, college: Butler) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Swedish forward Emma Karamovic (184-96, college: Southeastern) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Four Barakaldo players scored in double figures. Coach Alberto Cea's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Sofia Lluch (168-0) who recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Princess Aghayere (183, college: Pennsylvania) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Barakaldo have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 13-12 record. Newly promoted Plasencia dropped to the second place with eight games lost. Barakaldo will face Adareva (#8) in Laguna in the next round. Plasencia will play at home against Genero (#12) and hope to win that game.
