Very expected game when 14th ranked M.Kiryat Motzkin (5-15) lost at home to second ranked Maccabi Ashdod (13-5) 79-74 on Sunday. Maccabi Ashdod forced 19 M.Kiryat Motzkin turnovers. Strangely M.Kiryat Motzkin outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 48-33 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. M.Kiryat Motzkin was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Jordan Cohen (188-97, college: Lehigh) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds and guard Shalev Lugashi (194-1) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for M.Kiryat Motzkin. Four Maccabi Ashdod and five M.Kiryat Motzkin players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod maintains second position with 13-5 record having just one point less than leader E.Ashkelon. M.Kiryat Motzkin lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 15 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will face Maccabi Raanana (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
