The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Venezia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Venezia smashed 14th ranked Vigarano at home 89-61. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Vigarano's 36. They outrebounded Vigarano 47-24 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezia looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American center Natasha Howard (190-91, college: FSU, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. British-Nigerian forward Temi Fagbenle (193-92, college: USC) helped adding 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Venezia's coach Giampiero Ticchi felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ukrainian power forward Tetyana Yurkevicius (187-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and the former international center Maria Laterza (191-89, college: Marist) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Vigarano lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Vigarano will play next round against Lucca trying to get back on the winning streak. Venezia will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Empoli on the road.
