The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Leiden (12-3) on the court of fourth ranked Den Bosch on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Den Bosch 106-90. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leiden. They outrebounded Leiden 43-20 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Den Bosch looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and American-Iraqi guard Demario Mayfield (196-91, college: Angelo St.) who added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Nick King (201-95, college: MTSU) responded with 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import point guard Riley Lachance (188-96, college: Vanderbilt) scored 22 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Den Bosch (10-5) moved-up to third place, which they share with Groningen and Yoast United. Leiden at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Den Bosch is looking forward to face Den Helder (#5) on the road in the next round. Leiden will play against the league's second-placed Zwolle (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
