Second Stage Round 9: FSV Rijeka - Zadar 77-43

Bottom-ranked Zadar (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-43 loss to tenth ranked FSV Rijeka (5-4) in Rijeka on Sunday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Zadar's 22. FSV Rijeka forced 25 Zadar turnovers. Brazilian forward Maira Andrade (181-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Bosnian point guard Anja Perko (170-0) chipped in 6 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Katia Nekic (-4) with 15 points and Mihaela Dobric (-3) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FSV Rijeka moved-up to third place, which they share with Sibenik. Loser Zadar still closes the standings with eight games lost. FSV Rijeka will meet at home KAZL Split (#7) in the next round. Zadar will play against Split (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
