Regular Season Round 40: Inter Bratislava - Handlova 77-71

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Handlova (10-23) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Inter Bratislava (17-14) 77-71. Inter Bratislava outrebounded Handlova 40-26 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Handlova was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for international center Michal Fusek (223-95, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Argentinian point guard Lautaro Lopez (190-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 assists for the winners. Five Inter Bratislava players scored in double figures. Inter Bratislava's coach Oleg Meleschenko allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Montenegrin point guard Goran Bulatovic (186-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (191-91) added 22 points (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Handlova. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Handlova lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 23 games lost. Inter Bratislava will play against Iskra Svit (#4) on the road in the next round. Handlova will play against the league's second-placed Levice and hopes to get back on the winning track.
