Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Nantes Reze (4-16) was outplayed on the road by sixth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (11-10) 97-71 on Wednesday. Villeneuve D'Ascq made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Nantes Reze turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Villeneuve D'Ascq looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Nantes Reze was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Lisa Berkani (176-97) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Brazilian center Clarissa Dos Santos (188-88) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Rachid Meziane felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fifth place. Nantes Reze lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq will face higher ranked Gazelles (#4) in Montpellier in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nantes Reze will play on the road against the league's second-placed Basket Landes (#2) in Mont de Marsan and hope to win that game.
