There was no surprise in Charnay-les-Macon where 10th ranked Charnay (7-13) was crushed by third ranked Lyon (14-5) 80-54 on Wednesday. Lyon outrebounded Charnay 48-28 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international point guard Marine Fauthoux (173-1) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Lyon players scored in double figures. International point guard Olivia Epoupa (165-94) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and Nigerian-American guard Promise Amukamara (173-93, college: Arizona St.) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lyon have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 14-5 record having eight points less than leader Bourges. Loser Charnay dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. Lyon will face Roche (#6) in La Roche in the next round. Charnay will play at home against the league's leader Bourges and hope to win that game.
